Malolos Parents and Teachers Forge Vision Under Inspiring Leadership of SDS Cunanan

By: Al Juridico (Division Information Officer)

January 9, 2024

City of Malolos, Bulacan – Over 100 energized parents and teachers converged at the Aldaba Hall, CMIS Sto. Rosario, on January 8, 2024, for a crucial School Parent Teachers Association (SPTA) meeting fueled by a shared vision for Malolos's youth. At the helm, the city's dynamic Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Madam Leilani Samson Cunanan, CESO V, ignited a spirit of collaborative action, urging SPTA members to craft initiatives that empower learners under the Schools Division Office's (SDO) "SMART-G" vision: nurturing smart and Godly learners.
SDS Cunanan’s message resonated like a clarion call. "Are our proposed projects truly unlocking the potential of each Maloleño learner?" she challenged, prompting lively discussions on impactful project ideas. Parenting seminars featuring expert counselors, establishing vibrant Gulayan sa Paaralan programs, and implementing learner-feeding initiatives emerged as frontrunners, promising practical avenues for nurturing young minds and enriching their learning journeys. SDS also encouraged intensifying "Adopt a School" programs like Brigada Eskwela, highlighting the transformative power of community involvement in school improvement.
"We want to unlock the diverse talents and intelligence within each Maloleño learner," declared the SDS Cunanan, her passion inspiring a wave of commitment in the room. She concluded by echoing the Department of Education's (DepEd) rallying cry: "Let's keep advocating for MATATAG na bansang makabata, batang makabansa (A strong nation for the youth, youth for the nation)."
The SPTA meeting was not just about sharing ideas; it was about building a strong foundation for collaborative action. A re-orientation on DepEd Order 13, s. 2022, equipped members with knowledge of PTA regulations, paving the way for a transparent and empowered association. Crafting PTA Federation By-Laws and electing a Board of Directors and committee chairs laid the groundwork for a cohesive leadership structure.
This SPTA meeting was organized by the School Governance and Operations Division, spearheaded by Cynthia C. Briones, PhD (Chief, SGOD) and Sir Armando V. Illescas (EPSvr, SGOD).
As the echoes of brainstorming faded, one thing was clear: the Malolos school community is united in its mission to nurture smart and Godly learners. Armed with a clear roadmap and fueled by passionate collaboration, the future of education in Malolos City appears bright, brimming with the potential to unleash the greatness within each young Maloleño learner.
